Camel

The look I have today was inspired by one of the hottest colors for fall...CAMEL. I love the fact that this color is so versatile. It goes with pretty much everything/color. Stripes have also migrated from the summer. I've paired the camel trousers with a navy/white striped tunic. and added a splash of red to give the look a little spunk.

Red and Camel go well together, so you can pair a camel pant with a red turtle neck or whatever you like. Denim also works wonderfully with the color. It give it a more casual feel with the sophistication still there. In my opinion the brighter blue the better it looks. So try it out.

Another thing I'm loving this season is the "Little House on the Prairie"/Victorian type shoes. I've been to Aldo and such and checked them out...hehe but a little out of my price range...a girl can dream though.

Quit quip: I need to stop spelling color (with a U) how very Canadian of me...lol .The spell check wont leave me alone.

Today's Outfit

I've decided not to do outfit of the week anymore, but sometimes I take pics of myself and I cant wait a week to put it up...so hence Today's Outfit...I need a better title though...any suggestions?

Today was very cold here, I don't know if it's a fluke or fall is actually finally arriving, but it was freezing. So I decided to wear a sweater today. This sweater was kind of an impulse buy, I would normally regret it, but I love it so much, I kinda want to go get it in Heather Grey and Yellow.. Insha'Allah next time. The only bad thing about it though is that the arms stretch out alot, but they shrink back when you wash it..strange.

Gold and Grey Eye

I love everything about this outfit today, especially the tank. I found this one in marshals and was in love because of the length and a pocket. I have a slight obsession with pockets I actually get a little upset when I am trying pants on and they don't have pockets...I think that's something I passed on to my son, because every time he wears something now he asks <> oh well, pockets are very functional.

Lets get down to business

Hijab: Sam Moon ($7) This was my first ever Sam Moon buy its maybe 3 years old.
Sweater: Gap ($20)
Tank: Marshalls ($10)
Jeans: dont remember
Shoes: PLato's Closet ($7)
Necklace: Charlotte Russe (2 for $8)

Water Marble Nails

Ok... so yesterday I was reading a blog...I forgot the name and I didnt bookmark or anything. This water marble technique reminded me of "Ebru" a Turkish art technique and it basically means the same thing (Marbling).

First Attempt at Water Marbling

I love nail polish but I don't wear it often except for my off days. (Hopefully my hijabi sisters would understand). Anyways I searched youtube to get an idea of what to do. With not much success because I kept typing in water colour nails. And the youtube videos that came up were poor quality and they didn't tell me what tempurature the water should be..and after several attempts with warm water I tried it with cold water and the polish didn't dry as quickly and I was able to achieve the marble affect.

I found a great youtube link, she has some cool designs. The video also acts as a tutorial.

The colours on my middle finger are:
Sally Hansen -Deeply Violet
Essie-Pink Parka

On my Ring Finger:
China Glaze- 5 Golden Rings
Nina Ultra Pro- Bossa Nova

All in all I think my first attempt was a success.

A quick tip tip some tape or Vaseline around your finger so you wont have that much of a mess. I used vasaline, and all I had to do was wipe..oh and also use a base colour before you do the marbling especially if you'r doing a sheer colour like "5 golden rings"..the colours would stand out more.

Pink Hijab Day

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu,

Some of you may or may not know that today is PINK HIJAB DAY. Muslims women all over the world are wearing their pink hijabs today to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This years even is especially significant for me because someone close to me has been diagnosed and with Breast Cancer last year. She (Alhumdulillah) is now in remission. Insha'Allah on Friday she will have some reconstructive surgery to fill in the tissue that was removed. May Allah (swt) allow the surgery to be a success.

My outfit...

A closer look at the hijab(s)

I didn't want to wear any jewelry today because I think pink is such a loud colour and I dont know maybe I was just being lazy..

Undershirt: Forever21 ($5)
Dark Hijab: Forever21 ($6)
Pink Hijab: Pakistan
Blouse: Sears ($4) SALE!!!
Jeans: Kohl's: ($12)

I saw this video on youtube today and thought it was absolutely wonderful. And I especially liked that they included men in the video because I think it''s important to know men also get breast cancer.

Outfit of the week (early edition)

With Belt

Without Belt

Here is a fun little outfit I wore today..BUTTERFLIES. I got this top during the summer, but considering the sun is still out where I live and it's HOT, I thought it'll be fun, and It didn't feel like fall today. I originally was going to wear it without a belt, but notices that the belt cinched in my waist. The top is a trapeze top so it does flair out..and because I do have larger hips I kinda looked like a triangle... so the belt was a good idea. I did a simple eye..I am not a makeup artist by any means, so its not 100% glam. (I have no idea why that eye pic came out so yellow)

Skirt: Esprit ( I dont remember the price it was ages ago)
Long Sleeve Shirt: Forever21 $5
Top: Forever21 $10
Brown Hijab: Forever21 $7
Purple Hijab: Le Chateau (Canada) $10 Canadian Dollars.
Bracelet: Forever 21 (Dont remember the price it's about 3 years old less than $10)

OPI - Black Shatter

I really want to try this OPI Black Shatter polish. Its so interesting.. It give a scaly lizardy effect..or lol a shatter effect hence the name..but I WANT!!! to bad I'll have to wait till January.

Feline Frenzy

Animal prints are never go out of style. I love a good leopard print every now and then. I have paired some pieces that I thought looked great together. The thing with animal prints is that when you do a lot..it tends to be overkill (no pun intended if there was one lol). I feel the trick is to be subtle. Have one or two items that are to be focused on. In this cast the shirt. The print hijab is meant to do a little peek-a- boo..it shouldn't be the focus because is the job of the shirt. You can have the print hijab as main attraction and have a more subdued top to even things out. See its all about a good balance.

PS that pant is from forever21 and I'm going t to buy it next week insha'Allah.

Hajj

As-Salaam Alaikum as you all may know Hajj is just around the corner. Insha'allah for those who are preforming hajj this year may Allah (SWT) accept your hajj and accept your duas.

I wont be doing hajj this year but Insha'Allah if Allah so wills it before I am 30 yrs. That has been my goal since I was very young.

I've been scanning a few sites for hajj clothing..and I came across this gift set which I thought was a very practical and cute. It's from DesertStore.com $39.69
Another great online store for Hajj and Ummrah products is www.hijabulhareem.com their items are pretty inexpensive.

They sell hijabs, abayas and a bunch of other stuff as well. But a lot of their abayas are on the steeper end of the spectrum. A little out of my price range. They are pretty to look at though.:)

Simple winged eye

I was a little bored yesterday and decided to do an eye makeup look. It was a tame winged eye. I used very little colour, I wanted it to look soft and natural.
Makeup I used:
Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
MAC liquid Liner in Point Black
Rimmel Soft Kohl #061 Jet Black
BH Cosmetics 120 ColorPalette

This shade on the lid..A pretty burgundy/brownish colour

This pretty olive shade in the inner corner, I added that colour to match my outfit.
A friend of mine brought back the dress from pakistan, this was the first time I wore it, and I ruined it by acting like a 2 year old. I was having a little too much fun with my little boy..

Adult + New Dress+ Big wheels results in this...:(

I should of known better..lol

Chunky Knits

This fall and I guess it will carry on into winter brings CHUNKY knit sweaters. I went shopping the other day and fell in love with this one. It's from Papaya and it wasnt that expensive either $24.99 (that to me is great for the size of it). The thing about big sweaters is that they are so easy to wear, so comfortable and most importantly the keep you warm. You can pair them with a skinnier pant, to create proportion. I've pair it with yoga pants because I don't wear leggings. If you do wear leggings its up to you, you can also straight or skinny jeans. Herem style pants creates more volume to the over all look but it works.

Mini Haul

Hey guys,

I know hauls are usually in video form, but, I'm not really into vlogging, perhaps in the near future.
Over the weekend I went to Sally's Beauty Supply store in hopes of getting Loreal Natural Therapy Unfrizz Taming Creme but the
n I found out that they discontinued it. The lady wasnt really clear, and she really didn't know she said either the store discontinued it or Loreal...any-who, I needed something to I got this other product..Ion Anti-Frizz Solutions Lusterizing Cream, it cost around $8.00 with my beauty card, it was a bit expensive I thought. One the plus size it is 100% Vegan, which is good because I didn't have to worry about glycerin and it it was animal base or plant base. I haven't tried it yet but I plan to later on today.
I also went to get an eyeshadow primer so I purchased
Palladio Herbal Eye Shadow Primer, $7 and I found this Orly mail polish in a sales bin which cost me $1.99, I was happy. Orly usually runs you about $6-$7. The colour is Purple Pleather and its a matte base, it looks so pretty. At first I wasnt really a fan of Matte nail colours but they grew on me. I'm not too sure how fall this colour is though, but I love it none the less.

My second stop of the weekend was Ulta Beauty.

went there to buy specifics. Eyeliner and fake
lashes. Both eyelines are Ulta brand and they were having a promotion 2 for $6. One cost $7 regular price and I got both for $6. You do the math. FREE!
One was the
Automatic Eye Liner in Raisin and the other was Khol Eye Liner Pencil in Aqua. I wanted an aqua colour to match my Eid outfit and I picked the Rasin becasue it reminded me of my mom.

Military Inspired

I was inspired by this new military trend I keep seeing. I love how hard and soft kind of meets, and the whole urban feel of this look. I think one of the seasons must haves is a good cargo. I've been on a mission to find the perfect ones since summer, still searching. The one in this photo is from old navy. I've tried those but unfortunately they do not fit me right. I also like my clothes to be slightly bigger than my size but then I'll have to take in the waist 95% of the time, which is why it takes me so long to find pants.

Update: You know what I just noticed this is slightly similar to what Jennifer Hudson is wearing that that weight watchers ad..lol

Please give me your feed back.

Fall Look

AS-salaam Alaikum everyone!!!

Well the other day I went to old navy to buy a sweater but ended up getting shoes, the ring and the long sleeve top. I at the moment have a slight obsession with the colour coral. Old navy actually carries a wide variety of scarves, but I find the price to be a little steep. I don't think should have to pay more that $10 US for a hijab, unless its absolutely amazing and I cant live without it.
The Hijab is actually from pearl-daisy.com.

Hope you like the outfit.
