Vancouver Canucks! Game 1

Tomorrow Game 1 of the Stanley cup final will take place. I am rooting for my home town team. THE VANOUVER CANUCKS! The last time they were in the stanley cup finals was like 94 or somehting like that. I was so little back then. I remember using crayons and making a sign "HONK IF YOU LOVE THE CANUCKS" and taping it to the school bus window. Good times, BCMS days were the best. I wish I could be home now... First I miss the Olympic coolness now I'm gonna miss this :(. Well at least Dallas Mavericks are in the finals too..so I get to be part of something.

Let's Compare

I just wanted to see how this would turn out. I used OPI's Black Shatter and OPI's Silver Shatter.

I've noticed that back shatter goes well with busy nail designs underneath. It really adds a very cool affect. So I decised to see if silver shatter would do the same. Going in I originally thought no, because the silver had a alot going on with the sparkle and the shattering. So a busy back drop would not work so well. I think I was right. I used the same design on both fingers, (mulit-coloured polka dots with a white base).

I decided to retry the same design with a black base instead and that was an epic fail.


I put too much product on, and the parts that did shatter looked bad because the polish itself is on the sheer side so it was not successful at all.

I feel silver Shatter goes well with cream polishes. Solid colours. In a way Silver Shatter is more classy where as Black shatter is more daring.

Tornado Warning!

There is a tornado warning going on right now in my city here in Texas. To be truthful this is kind of thrilling. At the same time I feel as if I should be scared, but I'm not. We don't normally get these things in Vancouver (where I am originally from). The only real natural disaster I've experienced was an earthquake. I happen to be sleeping at the time and was suddenly awoken by this rumbling. I was calm until I realized what was going on..lol
I was telling my sister-in-law that I feel like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz :)
In all seriousness, Insha'Allah please make dua that everything turns out okay. Insha'Allah Ameen. Throughout the US tornadoes have been wiping out everything. My Dua's, thoughts, prayers etc, are for those who lost everything and loved ones.

I finally finished my skirt. This was the first time I've ever made anything for myself. I've altered, made little things here and there. Never clothing for myself. So this is a FIRST. I am so proud of myself. And it turned out pretty good (at least I think so :))

NOTD: End of Days!!!

As-Salaam Alaikum,

Well considering today is supposed to be the Apocalypse or something I don't expect many to read this..lol Have you guys heard of this "rapture" that supposed to happen today? And my birthday didn't come yet!! The same man who is claiming the world will end today also said it would end in 1994...just saying.

Aside from all that apocalyptic jargon. This is the polish I wore today. Nina Ultra Pro in Sailor.


It's a creamy navy blue colour. A slight grayish tint. I adore cream finishes. They look so clean and smooth.

A food post.

I had to share because the day started out so lovely yesterday when I was greeted with this surprise for breakfast.

I <3 this egg and it <3's me!!!

Then I made some baked Aloo Kabobs (potato) and some "chicken Pakora" as my 3 yr old says. It's fried chicken really but since pakoras are fried he just associated everything fried as pakora.

NOTD: Leopard Print with a twist.

Leopard print is my absolute favorite nail design to do. It looks so complicated, but really is quite easy to do. I decided to do only 2 nails and have the rest a solid colour. Accent nails, you have to love.

How is the weekend treating you? I for one am not a fan of week ends at all. I find them to be lazy and a bit slow. I feel like they last FOREVER!. I know I'm probably one of the few who hates weekends..lol

Lastly the hijab style was inspired by Aminakin's Summer Jedi she did a few weeks back on youtube. EPIC FAIL. I kinda lost all hope and did my own thing. Here's how it turned out.

Sewing Again

Jummah Mubarak Sisters!

Another sewing project is about to go down. I've decided to make my very own maxi skirt (insha'Allah). I've been wanting to sew one for a while now, but I've decided to officially give it a go after seeing this post by the lovely sister Nad. She sewed her own skirt and I was like I want one...lol.
So insha'allah I'll bust out the machine again and try my best at creating my very own Fatima original maxi skirt.


Here is a print I fell in love with..lol. I had to buy the whole piece of it, and it was about 6 yrds. They were selling it for $1/yrd and the gimmick was you have to buy the whole piece. She did give me a deal though I got it for 3 bucks lol. What am I going to do with all this extra fabric? Who knows!

Yup...It's one of those days!!!

Spiderman crazy

On friday May 6th my little baby turned 3. Selfishly I am a little sad, he's not a baby anymore. I am happy that he's growing, thriving Masha'Allah, but it really makes me sad that he doesnt need me as much.

Olive + Black

This is my favorite cardigan. I wear it so much, I think I might have a panic attack if it gets a hole or something were to happen to it... Hopefully that day wont come anytime soon!
