Youjabi: TheSewist

The latest Youjabi I'm going to feature is "Mayya the hijabi that sews" I believe she was the originator of the "Hijab Story Tag". That's probably one of my favourite things on youtube at the moment. I love watching other sister's stories. They are all so different, unique, touching, and inspiring, just very beautiful individual stories. Masha'Allah.

Masha'Allah I love this sister. She was the one who inspired me into making my tissue cozy
She has a blog as well so please check her out ''sew chic and unique". This is also the name of her company.

Going Green

This spring green plays a big part in the closet. Not only is the colour the representation of nature, it also brings a clean and fresh aspect to your wardrobe. Here is my take on including green into the mix, Hijabi friendly of course.

New Nail Designs

This was done today, it'll be off in a few hours, before I read Maghrib Salat.

China Glaze For Audrey
China Glaze: Liquid Leather

This was yesterday, I also took it off before reading my Namaz.

I can't remember the colours, so sorry. I know the black is China Glaze Liquid Leather

What have I been up to?!

Sorry for the lack of posts. I was in Houston for the better part of last week. I'll post some pics of things we did/saw insha'Allah. I'm not a fan of that city at all, but whatever. I am now back in Dallas, and terribly sick with allergies/colds/ lord knows what-else. Please make dua for me.

In my down time I've dusted off my sewing machine. Here's a look at my first little project. A Tissue Cozy. This was a really easy little project.

Hats and Hijabs

I was on the Aldo website recently looking at shoes and scarfs. I came across this hat. I think it's really cute, but I am not really sure if I would be able to pull it off. I've worn hats with hijab 2 or 3 times. In the winter I wore a toque (Beanie) with my hijab and caps. I think when we went to Miami I wore a dollar store straw has but I did not really style it well. It was mainly an "I am tired of the sun hitting my face so I need something to cover me up a little" and that's what I did, just plopped a hat on my head. I didnt look bad but it didn't look great. (Hence the reason no pictures were taken lol)
What I am interested in is how to style it correctly. I kind or think the "Spanish Wrap style would work well for this kind of hat...I wonder if they are more. That will be my mission. Find great tutorial that would compliment this larger hat..:)

Natalie Portmant Oscar Inspired Eye

I know I am late but I finally got around to doing this eye makeup. I was inspired by Natalie Portman's Oscar 2011 dress. It was a beautiful deep plum. Some say it was violet but to me it looked plummy. I was not really feeling the dress itself, but I was IN LOVE with the colour.

So yes readers here is my eye makeup that was inspired by the colour of her dress. Nothing fancy just thought I'd play around with colour . This makeup is very wearable day or night, it's not too harsh at all.

I was thinking I should do a eye look that was inspired by Cate Blanchett's Dress..My god, that woman knows how to impress and be so different.

Here is a pic of what she wore that evening.

Youtube Hijabi (YouJabi)

I go on youtube a lot searching for hijab tutorials quite often. I've been on a binge to change up my hijab style from the old wrap around. Lately I've been loving this user. Girguin I think she's a reletively new "YouJabi" (my word) as she only has 26 videos and most made in 2011. Anyways here's my favourite video of hers:

I really like the drapes on the sides and it compliments this one hijab I have with embellishments on the ends...so it's a great way to show off designs on those types of scarfs.

Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow

Yes, I couldn't resist. That song, well only that part of the song has been stuck in my head for weeks now. So I decided to do a shatter effect on my nail to match the song.

Here it is. China Glaze Lemon Fizz avec Opi's Black Shatter

I also did a "Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow" look with China Glaze Lemon Fizz and China Glaze Liquid Leather. The half moon mani on my pinky. I totally free handed the look, next time I'm gonna make sure to get some sort of tape. I'll figure it out.
