It is done!

The color turned out this beautiful raspberry red/pink. So pretty. I know that's far from purple or teal, but I love it.

My son grows like a weed and I'm constantly buying him pants. 2 years ago he had these pants he barely wore and still in decent condition. I didn't want to get rid of them so I did a little altering. Converted the pants in shots.

Here is my latest pant alteration. An old school uniform pant, transforms into new school uniform shorts.

I had to hand stitch because my machine is on the fritz.

First day wearing his new shorts..and he managed to get icing all over them.. :(

 I also use to turn his old rompers into t-shirts.

DIY: Straight Pin Painting

I hate it when I have a green, or a red hijab and I don't have the pins to match. Straight pins are extra handy as a hijabi, but they come in a limited selection of color if you get them from the sewing store or even grocery store. One day I got fed up with my lack of color selection and thought; since I have a whole bunch of nail polish ranging in a variety of colors, why not paint my pins myself. And that is exactly what I did. This is a great  and perhaps cheaper alternative to purchasing from specialty hijab stores or even online.

DIY: Friendship Bracelet

I know I've been lacking. I really need to adjust to working again. Full Time Mother, Full Time Wife, and Full Time Teacher...Pressure.

I made this bracelet in my time off (LOL it took 10 days to complete). When I was younger I use to make 5 or 6 in a day.

Jummah Mubarak!!

The other day I went to forever21 and was rummaging through the little 4.99 and up rack and came across this thin striped sweater dress. When I got it I knew it would be a little tight but I was like I can wear a cardigan over it. Then it dawned on me..this can be a cardigan. So I decided to turn it into one..here are the results..(Sadly I didn't take a before pic because I didn't think to post this, but when I was done I had my a-ha moment...)

All sewed up

End result, a cute cardigan. Hooray for ingenuity.

All I did was cut along the center, lengthwise. Sew the raw edges. You can even add buttons etc, but I'm not quite there yet. Yeah this how it's done. It's very simple, and I don't think you have to be the best sewer to do this . I am a beginner with a capital "B" and I did it. I think hand stitching would work just as good too.

In my down time

I love reading...but more so than that; I love giving people presents. Seriously. It's my excuse to wrap things up all nice and pretty. I have a slight obsession with Wrapping paper, Bags, Ribbon, Tissue...everything and anything that has to do with gifts, I LOVE. Here is the most recent gift I did..



My husband's cousin's wife is about to give birth to her first child. Actually her due date is Today, or tomorrow it all depends one when I publish this and who reads it from where..but Dec 2nd is the due date.


I made the bows myself..see crafty ;). I love doing this kind of stuff. I've always been a crafty person, but to be honest gift wrapping is probably my favorite craft project.
